In recent years, folk horror has had a resurgence, and the You Won’t Be Alone trailer has been produced in the hopes of joining the pantheon that already includes Midsommar and The Witch. The film is set in a Macedonian mountain town and follows Nevena, a teenage witch who is exiled from her community to the woods. It marks Australian director Goran Stolevski’s feature directorial debut.
Focus Features has published the second video for You Won’t Be Alone on YouTube, expanding on the tension created by the first trailer, which was released two months ago. As Nevena comes to grips with her power and, in disguise, tries to reintegrate into the society that pushed her out, the film contrasts gorgeous, idyllic vistas of pastoral Macedonia with screams, laments, and glimpses of nails hurting skin.
Noomi Rapace, widely known for her performance as Lisbeth Salander in the 2009 film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels, plays one of the incarnations of the witch Nevena, who shapeshifts into the corpses of people she murders. Sara Klimoska, Carloto Cotta, and Alice Englert from Beautiful Creatures are among the other cast members that play Nevena. The film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022, where it got excellent reviews from reviewers. The trailer for the film includes many of the highlights from these reviews. On April 1, You Won’t Be Alone will be released in cinemas.
