A new video for the imminent Disney+ series shows Warwick Davis back in action as Willow.
Willow was a fantastical adventure picture that was produced by Lucasfilm all the way back in 1988. Warwick Davis, a veteran of the Star Wars franchise, took on the title character in this film, which was directed by Ron Howard and also included early leading roles for Val Kilmer and Joanne Whalley. As with many fantasy films from the decade, Willow flopped at the box office and didn’t impress reviewers, therefore no sequel was ever produced.
Following Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, the Mouse House endeavored to make use of as many of the studio’s properties as possible. Eventually, a Willow series was included in the company’s new streaming service, Disney Plus. The film’s production began early last year, but until today, virtually little has been disclosed about it.
The trailer and premiere date for Warwick Davis‘ new Disney Plus series Willow was revealed at Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase Panel at Star Wars Celebration:
Besides Warwick Davis, the cast of this series also includes Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Amer Chadha-Patel, Tony Revolori, Ellie Bamber, Erin Kellyman, Ruby Cruz, and Talisa Garcia. Hannah Friedman and Jonathan Kasdan both serve as writers for the series. Stephen Woolfenden, Jamie Childs, and Debs Paterson are all taking over directorial duties.
Willow on Disney Plus is due to debut on the 30th of November in 2022.
