During the Super Bowl, Marvel Studios released the second trailer for “Moon Knight,” a limited series starring Oscar Isaac that will air on Disney+ on March 30.
In the MCU series, Isaac portrays Moon Knight, a character created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975 for the comic series “Werewolf by Knight.” In most depictions, Moon Knight is the hidden identity of Marc Spector, a former CIA mercenary who dies on a mission in Sudan but is resurrected and transformed into the conduit of the Egyptian moon deity Khonshu, becoming a Batman-like vigilante. One of the most noticeable aspects of the character is his dissociative identity disorder, which manifests itself in numerous distinct personas with distinct personalities.
The previous trailer for “Moon Knight” featured Isaac as Steven Grant, one of Spector’s numerous alter selves, as well as the enigmatic cult leader Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and a first glimpse at the show’s Moon Knight outfit. The latest teaser includes more scenes with Isaac and Hawke, while Moon Knight takes to the air and shoots his signature crescent darts at foes.
Besides Isaac and Hawke, the late Gaspard Ulliel will play the evil Anton Mogart, or Midnight Man, in “Moon Knight.” This was one of the last performances played by the French actor, who died in a skiing accident in January after the filming had finished. May Calamawy will also play an unrevealed role. Jeremy Slater (“The Umbrella Academy”) developed and wrote the show, with the directors of Aaron Moorhead (“Synchronic”), Justin Benson, and Mohamed Diab (“Eshtebak (Clash)”). Isaac, Slater, Diab, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Brad Winderbaum serve as executive producers.
The first Marvel series, “Moon Knight,” will air on Disney+ in 2022. Other Marvel projects set to premiere this year include the legal comedy “She-Hulk,” starring Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jameela Jamil, and Josh Segarra; “Ms. Marvel,” a coming-of-age superhero movie, in which newbie Iman Vellani plays the main role; science-fiction drama “Secret Invasion,” featuring Samuel Ben Mendelsohn, L. Jackson, and the animated anthology “What If…?” Season 2
