DC Entertainment, the company behind Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and the Justice League from DC Comics, is reportedly mulling a facelift. According to various sources, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav met with key executives before the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger to find someone to raise the prominence of DC Entertainment while also bringing its TV series, movies, comics, and many video games into better alignment. Zaslav is said to have talked with a number of people in order to establish a leader and central voice for DC’s material, similar to Marvel Studios‘ Kevin Feige.

This type of move would have an impact on Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC Films, DC Comics’ monthly comic books, and HBO Max’s streaming ventures.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Wonder Woman 3, The Flash, Black Adam, and Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, as well as HBO Max original movies like Zatanna, Blue Beetle, and Batgirl, will all be affected by the move. Strange Adventures, Green Lanter, and a Penguin offshoot of The Batman are among the HBO Max TV ideas at various stages of production.
Emma Watts, a former executive at 20th Century Studios and Paramount, was allegedly one of the people Zaslav was considering for this position. Watts, though, is alleged to have refused the role, according to some reports.

According to another source, Zaslav wanted someone with a business mentality to keep the many DC verticals interwoven, rather than a creative voice driving the initiatives.
Even with the success of Matt Reeves‘ The Batman and Todd Phillips’ The Joker, some insiders feel Zaslav believes Warner Bros.’ DC film slate hasn’t realized its full potential.
