Viola Davis, who starred as Amanda Waller in the film (and its definite article-free predecessor), is in discussions to reprise her role in an HBO Max series now in development. The show would be a spin-off of the streamer’s Peacemaker, which included two short cameos by Davis’ Waller during its first season.
HBO Max and Warner Bros. TV refused to make any comment on the matter.
The specifics of the plot are being kept under wraps, but insiders indicate that the proposed series would pick up where Davis left off in the Peacemaker season finale, which premiered in February on HBO Max. Leota Adebayo, the character played by Danielle Brooks in the series, is Waller’s daughter.
Christal Henry (Watchmen) is tapped to pen the spinoff and executive produce with James Gunn, the writer-director of The Suicide Squad and the creator of Peacemaker, as well as Davis and Peter Safran, an EP on Peacemaker.
