At the US box office, Top Gun: Maverick now officially surpasses Avengers: Infinity War.

No blockbuster has received as much praise for the summer of 2022 as Top Gun: Maverick. The movie, in which Tom Cruise reprises one of his most famous roles, has continued to outperform forecasts and has emerged as the clear box office victor. The movie can now rejoice in yet another victory after surpassing Avengers: Infinity War.
By August 20, 2022, Top Gun: Maverick had surpassed Avengers: Infinity War in box office revenue, which had brought in $678.8 million in 2018.
The Tom Cruise picture has surpassed Avatar, Black Panther, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the sixth-highest grossing domestic movie of all time.
It’s astounding to see how far the Tom Cruise sequel has come since passing Avengers: Infinity War. Blockbusters from the summer of 2022 in particular have rekindled audiences’ interest in movies and brought in large numbers. The box office success of recent movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Minions: Rise of Gru, Jurassic World Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Elvis undoubtedly portends well for the industry’s comeback after a difficult two years.
Top Gun: Maverick, which was directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Lewis Pullman, and Val Kilmer, was written by Eric Warren Singer, Christopher McQuarrie, and Ehren Kruger.
