The Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel is anticipating the second Friday of $20M, -61 percent versus last Friday (+previews), on its way to a 3-day of $68M, -46 percent. There are some competing studios that believe it is far higher, but it is still early in the game.
Top Gun: Maverick racked up $205.6M in its first week of release. This weekend, the Paramount/Skydance film will easily surpass Tom Cruise‘s lifetime stateside totals for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol ($209 million), Mission: Impossible II ($215 million), and Mission: Impossible – Fallout ($220 million, the highest-grossing title at domestic B.O. in that franchise).
