With the release of Top Gun: Maverick just a few days away, Top Gun is all set to make its grand entrance back into cinemas. IMAX has announced, in advance of the highly anticipated sequel’s release on May 25, that the highly anticipated sequel would touch down in 755 IMAX cinemas across 71 nations the following week.
Given that it was shot for IMAX, it stands to reason that it would be distributed to a large number of IMAX theaters. The movie has about an hour’s worth of material that was shot using IMAX’s Expanded Aspect Ratio. This means that the audience will be able to view around 26 percent more of the image during certain situations that occur throughout the movie. This version of the picture would set apart utterly unlike any other, which explains why the film’s star, Tom Cruise, was insistent about the movie being shown in cinemas.
Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Lewis Pullman, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris and is directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script written by Eric Warren Singer, Ehren Kruger, and Christopher McQuarrie, based on a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks.
On May 27, 2022, Top Gun: Maverick will be released in cinemas.
