The blockbuster action sequel Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures has officially been named the streamer’s most-watched film internationally, over a week after it made its streaming premiere on Paramount+. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 previously held the Paramount + record.

This latest accomplishment follows its two Golden Globe nominations for Best Picture – Drama and Best Original Tune for the Lady Gaga-penned “Hold My Hand” theme song.
The overwhelming success of this movie in theaters, on digital platforms, and now in streaming is undeniable evidence of the effectiveness of Paramount’s multi-platform release strategy, according to Brian Robbins, president, and chief executive officer of Paramount Pictures and chief content officer for movies and kids & family at Paramount+. The studio has recognized the advantages of flexible windowing that streaming offers to boost a film’s overall success with Top Gun: Maverick and now across all of our 2022 releases.
Top Gun: Maverick, which debuted in theaters last May, has amassed a worldwide box office haul of more than $1.4 billion, making it Cruise’s highest-grossing movie to date.
