The CW has a date with Tom Swift in early July. Tian Richards will star in the Nancy Drew spinoff series, which will air at 9 p.m. Following a new episode of Superman & Lois on Tuesday, May 31.
Following the startling disappearance of his father, the series chronicles the serialized exploits of its eponymous character (Richards), an incredibly bright inventor with infinite resources and inconceivable fortune who is forced into a world of sci-fi conspiracies and mysterious events. Tom sets out on a journey to discover the truth, putting behind the luxuries of his typical well-heeled existence in order to remain one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale cabal hellbent on stopping him.
Zenzi, Tom‘s best friend, is played by Ashleigh Murray, and her unapologetic and unfiltered honesty keeps him grounded while she forges a career for herself as a business genius. Isaac’s bodyguard, Marquise Vilsón, is torn between his passionate devotion to his chosen family and his smoldering affections for Tom.
Albert Mwangi plays the intriguing and dangerous Rowan, who crosses Tom’s path with secret reasons and obvious mutual connection. LeVar Burton voices Barclay, Tom’s AI, whose insights and tough love have been a constant throughout Tom’s existence.
Meanwhile, Tom‘s relationship with his mother Lorraine (April Parker Jones) is strained at home, as she encourages him to follow in his father’s footsteps into elite Black society.
In May, the CW introduced the Tom Swift persona to viewers during Season 2 of Nancy Drew.
Nancy Drew EPs Melinda Hsu Taylor and Noga Landau, as well as Empire writer Cameron Johnson, serve as executive producers alongside Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Lis Rowinski on the CBS Studios and Fake Empire project.
