While prepping for his character as Nathan “Nate” Drake in the upcoming action-adventure film Uncharted, actor Tom Holland stated that he was tossed out of a London club.
On SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, Holland recalled discreetly bartending in London to hone the mixology abilities required for his role in the new film. “For me, one of my favorite things about what we do for a living is when you get the opportunity to learn a new skill for a reason, other than you just want to give it a go,” Holland remarked. “So I went to a bartending school. I ended up doing a few shifts at this bar in London, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. And it’s a nice little set piece in the movie.”
Nate’s bartending skills, according to Holland, are a fantastic method to demonstrate that the fortune seeker is “extremely skilled, without being a trained individual.” He feels it gives a handy path for persuading the audience that Nate, despite his lack of training, has something remarkable.
The Uncharted star’s cover was swiftly exposed, however, as news rapidly went around town that he was moonlighting at that specific pub, finally leading to his dismissal from his new job. Holland has now returned to the bartending scene, stating, “It’s a little bit of a rocky relationship at the minute. I’ve been giving them a lot of press though. So they just shut up and let me back.”
In any case, Holland ended his story by saying he had a terrific experience bartending and disclosing his favorite cocktail to make: “I enjoy creating espresso martinis. It’s great fun.”
Uncharted is based on Naughty Dog‘s video game series of the same name and features Nathan “Nate” Drake, a teenage fortune hunter from Holland, and his partner/mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg. To reclaim hidden money from Magellan’s adventures, the couple must race against a wealthy and deadly treasure hunter named Moncada, played by Antonio Banderas. Nate’s hunt for his long-lost brother, Sam, is also shown in the film, as he tries to track out his location by following a series of clues. Uncharted also stars Sophia Ali as Drake’s love interest and fellow treasure hunter, Chloe Frazer, and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, a mercenary working for Moncada.
Uncharted is now in cinemas.
