Warner Bros Discovery has given a silver lining for DC in light of the cancellation of Batgirl for HBO Max: the release date for the Joker sequel directed by Todd Phillips, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, is set for October 4, 2024.

Warners already pumped the brakes on the day for an untitled DC event film, so it comes as no surprise that Joker 2 will arrive during the first weekend of October. With Joker in 2019, Warners set a new October domestic opening record with $96.2 million. The film raked in $335,4 million domestically and $1.07 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated picture of all time. Joker brought home two Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Original Score by Hildur Guðnadóttir. The film was up for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Phillips.
As revealed in a June social media picture of the script cover by Phillips, the sequel is entitled Joker: Folie à Deux, which is the French medical word for a mental condition that takes a toll on two or more individuals.
According to reports, Joker: Folie à Deux is set to produce in December.
