The Marvel Studios picture is slated to storm into cinemas on July 8.
This week’s trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder drew a lot of cosmic attention.
The first trailer for the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film rake in over 209 million views in its first 24 hours across all digital platforms.
This pushed the trailer to fourth place among Marvel’s most-watched trailers in a single day, behind only Avengers: Infinity War (230 million) and Avengers: Endgame (289 million). However, Spider-Man: No Way Home retains the championship, with an astounding 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
The almost two-minute-long Marvel Studios teaser is backed by the Guns N’ Roses classic “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” It begins with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) getting back into incredible physique after a five-year time leap in Avengers: Endgame.
Taika Waititi, who helmed Thor: Ragnarok and returned to the director’s chair for Love and Thunder, shows off his bright, stylish typical style in the film’s teaser. There will also be appearances from Guardians of the Galaxy and Tessa Thompson, who will resume her role as Valkyrie, which was a fan favorite in the original.
Naturally, the trailer’s most dramatic scene is unmasked at the finale, when Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster is revealed as Mighty Thor.
