Natalie Portman’s comeback as Jane Foster in Mighty Thor gear has been shown in a new image. While we already know Portman will play the Mighty Thor in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel has still kept an official look at the character in the film under wraps. A new action figure for Marvel’s official Thor: Love and Thunder goods provides the first glimpse at Portman’s Mighty Thor, with the figure revealing a sneak glance at her outfit and the packaging hinting further details.
Portman participated in both the original Thor and its first follow-up, Thor: The Dark World, but did not reprise her role in the third film, Thor: Ragnarok. She portrayed Jane Foster in the first two films, although the films skipped her transformation into Mighty Thor. The new film is based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book series, in which the Jane Foster character assumes the mantle of Thor, and Portman will appear prominently alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
The film is directed by Taika Waititi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Besides Portman and Hemsworth, the film also stars Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and a comeback role by Waititi as Korg. Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, and Vin Diesel will also feature. Grandmaster is also played by Jeff Goldblum.
Portman, Natalie She Wasn’t Considering Come Back To Thor 4 Until She Met Taika Waititi

Natalie Portman declared in 2016 that she was done with Marvel. She left the door open for a possible comeback in a future Avengers film but stated that as far as she was concerned, Jane Foster would not be returning. When Taika Waititi joined the follow-up, he talked with Portman and pitched her on the idea he had for her role. Portman feels stronger than ever after assuming the role, which entails hard physical training and wearing the gear.
“It was really fun,” Portman said to Vanity Fair. “I worked with a trainer, Naomi Pendergast, for, I think it was, four months before shooting, and then obviously all the way through filming. We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes-heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work.” She later added, “It definitely helps you get into character, and it’s definitely changed the way I move. You walk differently; you feel different. I mean, it’s so wild to feel strong for the first time in my life.” Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
