View a comparison between Thor: Love and Thunder and Thor: Ragnarok
Reviews for Thor: Love and Thunder from Marvel Studios are now being released, and its Rotten Tomatoes score has also been made public.
Thor: Ragnarok, the first movie in the series, received a whopping 93 percent “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the best score of any Thor movie. Many will be speculating about Taika Waititi’s ability to perform his magic once more after returning to the series with Love and Thunder.
This first score should give a general idea of what to expect from the critical reception of Thor: Love and Thunder, even though the film’s ranking is expected to fluctuate as more reviews are added.
Thor: Love and Thunder now has 81 reviews, and its Rotten Tomatoes score is a “Fresh” 72 percent. Even if this rating is good, it clearly fell short of Thor: Ragnarok’s in 2017.
2013’s Thor: The Dark World has a 66 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating, compared to 2011’s Thor’s 77 percent. Only the heavily criticized The Dark World is ranked higher than Love and Thunder, the third-highest film in the series.
It’s odd to see the most recent installment of the series rank lower than 2011’s Thor given the positive reception to Taika Waititi’s work on Thor: Ragnarok, which saw the franchise fly to new heights. The majority of critics appear to agree that the film’s stars give good performances, although they disagree that it adequately captures Ragnarok’s spirit and originality.
After all, the perspectives of fans may not always align with those of critics. Later this week, when Thor: Love and Thunder is made available to the wider public, a broader picture of reactions to the movie might become apparent. One of the better MCU entries of not only Phase 4, but of any Phase, according to our own analysis of the movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres on July 8, 2022. Keep checking back for updates on the movie, and be sure to follow Heroic Hollywood on YouTube for more unique video content.
