Wu Assassins, a Netflix original series, depicts an extraordinarily adept martial artist (with the strength of a thousand monks) as he attempts to reclaim an ancient talisman that has fallen into the wrong hands. Kai Jin (Iko Uwais) assumed his role as a famous assassin was done by the end of Season 1, but a strange envelope hinted otherwise. Now, in the stand-alone film Fistful of Vengeance, Kai Jin and his companions prove that they aren’t done fighting mysterious powers.
In today’s trailer, restaurant manager Jenny Wah (Li Jun Li) is inexplicably murdered, prompting Kai Jin and his crew to join together once again to discover the perpetrator in a quest that might lead them to a direct encounter with the Queen of Bangkok’s underworld — and they’ll have to do it in plain sight.
The trailer also reveals that Fistful of Vengeance will feature the same elements that drew praise for the Wu Assassins TV series: incredible fighting choreography, a rhythm reminiscent of 2011’s The Raid (also directed by Uwais) and Netflix’s Extraction, and plenty of gun-fu sequences to please John Wick fans.

Roel Reiné, who directed two episodes of Wu Assassins and is set to film episodes of the next Halo TV series at Paramount+, is directing Fistful of Vengeance. Death Race 3, 12 Rounds 2, and The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption are just a few of the sequels that the filmmaker has tackled. The film is written by Cameron Litvack (Quantico) and Yalun Tu (NCIS: Hawai’i), who previously collaborated on the Wu Assassins TV series as writers and producers. Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, JuJu Chan, Jason Tobin, Pearl Thusi, Francesca Corney, Tony Kranz, and Rhatha Phongaam round out the cast of Fistful of Vengeance.
Fistful of Vengeance will launch on Netflix on February 17th. You may see the video here.
