AMC has given the green light to yet another Walking Dead spinoff, this time set in New York City.
AMC announced Monday that another prequel of the zombie apocalypse thriller “The Walking Dead” will premiere in 2023 on the network and its streaming service AMC+. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will take the role of Maggie and Negan, as their original “Dead” characters, who flee Georgia’s woodlands for a zombie-infested Big Apple on “Isle of the Dead“. Eli Jorné, who now writes for “Dead,” will produce the series.

Maggie and Negan, who used to be adversaries, will reunite in the new series, in “a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,” according to AMC. “Dead” actress Lauren Cohan stepped down from the show when she landed a role in the short-lived ABC series “Whiskey Cavalier” in 2019, but she returned once the show was canceled.
AMC is presently airing the last season of the original “The Walking Dead” on Sundays.
