Oscar surely assumed the answer is ‘Girls’— that’s why Promising Young Woman established a further standard for daring thrillers in terms of feminism. They’re undoubtedly ethos, contemporary, and frequently spot-on: consider Assassination Nation, Sam Levinson thoroughly belongs to Z generation (also with the writer’s modest view, great) in comparison with other sub-genres. Asking For It is the latest expansion to the canon, and it reaches with gruesome further reveals. Serving a whole fight between a “no mercy, all feminine” squad, and a little town taken over by a bunch of oddballs from patriarchy. And, yes, it is Ezra Miller, who appears to have recently returned from a tour that lasted for a week with some unexpected guys.
The r-rated thriller appears to be a gloriously pulpy adventure, and as the teaser suggests, it has received a slew of critics’ attention. The Wrap having been published at the Tribeca Film Festival one year ago, claims it has all the makings of a strong cult classic. Needless to say, Director Eamon O’Rourke put his great efforts and determination into casting a weirdly powerful lineup for an attribute debut on the big screen… almost all scenes bring a thoroughly portentous atmosphere. At the same time, the combination of talented people’s work and the mix of jump cuts, uniquely graphic shots, and finally the flawless performance of Lilah Larson maintain the high quality running on the edge. Without saying, the trailer video showed us all.
We had a chance to have a short talk after the debut of the film with the two famous Vanessa Hudgens and Alexandra Shipp, who were “quickly interviewed” by the director about many interesting topics like the most memorable scene and story, the main core of the film, the difficulty they had to get through due to the pandemic, and last but not least how feminism theme led the whole narrative. Those are incredible moments.
Besides Kiersey Clemons, Hudgens, Shipp, and Miller, Radha Mitchell, Gavourey Sidibe, and Luke Hemsworth make the perfect cast. On March 4, Asking For It will be available in cinemas and digitally. View the latest trailer here:
