Neil Gaiman, the author of the Sandman series, has finally provided an update on the ongoing pre-production work for the impending second season, more than five months after Netflix formally announced the series’ Season 2 renewal.

Gaiman acknowledged that the scripts for The Sandman Season 2 had already been completed in answer to a fan’s inquiry about the upcoming volume on Tumblr. He added that set designers are working on the set designs while casting is currently taking place for the first episode. Fans can anticipate seeing more of Delirium and Dream, who are Dream’s siblings.
The cast of The Sandman includes Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Vivienne Acheampong (The Witches), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve, Cruella), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille), Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who), Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Razane Jammal, Kyo Ra, and Sandra James Young as Rose Walker and Unity Kincaid.
Gaiman (American Gods) and Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman), who will also serve as showrunner, will pen the live-action series scripts. David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Foundation) is the executive producer of the drama from Warner Bros. Television.
Sandman, which ran for 75 issues and debuted in 1989, was the first publication published by the Vertigo imprint. In his serial collection, “Worlds Within Worlds,” Neil Gaiman focused on the metaphorical figure of “Dream” and his Endless siblings (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction, and Destiny).
