The Sandman May Join Other Platforms if Netflix Decides Not to Make Second Season

If Netflix decides not to renew The Sandman for Season 2, Neil Gaiman said he can move it to another platform.

The Sandman, a new Netflix original series that debuted earlier this month, has subsequently grown to rank among the most watched programs on the platform for the entire month of August. The show, which is based on the same-titled comic book series by Neil Gaiman, recently released a two-part bonus episode and is still receiving a lot of streaming traffic.

The Sandman’s high ratings, nevertheless, might not ensure a Netflix Season 2. Even though it has been at the top of the charts around the world, Neil Gaiman stated that it might not be enough for a renewal on the streaming service due to costs:

Because Sandman is a really expensive show. And for Netflix to release the money to let us make another season we have to perform incredibly well. So yes, we've been the top show in the world for the last two weeks. That still may not be enough. https://t.co/m7VusGL2rW

Neil Gaiman then responded to a fan’s question about whether he could still make The Sandman available on another streaming service in the event that Netflix decides not to renew it for Season 2 by saying that, despite not having the rights, DC Comics and Warner Bros. can make it available on other platforms like Amazon Prime, HBO Max, or Apple TV+:

In case Netflix doesn't continue you can still bring it to other platform like Prime, Apple tv, Disney + or HBO Max, can't you?
