Over Middle-Earth, weird skies are present.

A comet heading for Middle-Earth is the focus of a new teaser for Amazon’s planned Lord of the Rings prequel series, The Rings of Power.
Thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power explores the tale of the creation of the titular rings. The individuals that viewers will get to know in these early Middle-Earthen eras are hinted at in a new series teaser.
A brief teaser has been made available online, and Prime Video customers may see the complete 60-second clip.
The teaser depicts several new characters from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power staring up to the heavens, only to witness a comet pass overhead, only to smash down in the trailer’s closing minutes.
Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel and Owain Arthur’s Prince Durin IV are among those featured in the brief teaser. The full-length trailer also shows Benjamin Walker as High King Gil-galad, Markella Kavenagh as Elanor ‘Nori’ Brandyfoot, and a few Ents. Check out the new teaser trailer here:
The Rings of Power full-length video on Prime Video also has a glimpse at Lenny Henry’s Sadoc Burrows, a Harfoot, the Hobbits’ forefathers. Sadoc may be heard saying, “The sky seem odd,” before his remarks are verified by the appearance of the comet.
It is unknown what function the comet plays in The Rings of Power or whether it is tied to the forging of the rings, but it is apparent that this event will have a significant impact on all of Middle-Earth.
In collaboration with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema, Amazon Studios is making The Rings of Power. The show’s showrunners and executive producers are J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
