A new FX drama will reintroduce Jeff Bridges to the screen for a seven-episode season, which will premiere on Thursday, June 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
The first two episodes of FX’s The Old Man‘s seven-episode season will debut. In Latin America, the series will be accessible on Star+, while in all other regions, it will be available on Disney+ under the Star name.
The Old Man is a film adaptation of Thomas Perry‘s best-selling novel of the same name. It follows “Dan Chase” (Bridges), who escaped the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid ever since. When an assassin arrives and attempts to kill Chase, the veteran agent realizes that he must now reconcile his past in order to protect his future.
Because of his convoluted history with the rogue fugitive, the FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence “Harold Harper” (John Lithgow) is tasked with tracking him down. Harper’s protégé “Angela Adams” (Alia Shawkat) and CIA Special Agent “Raymond Waters” work with him (E.J. Bonilla).
When Chase proves to be more difficult to arrest than predicted, a highly skilled special operations contractor named “Julian Carson” (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is dispatched to track him down. While on the run, Chase borrows a room from “Zoe McDonald” (Amy Brenneman), who must tap on reserves she didn’t realize she has in order to survive the day she discovers the truth about her new tenant. The drama series also stars Bill Heck, Pej Vahdat, and Leem Lubany,
The Old Man is executive generated by Warren Littlefield, Dan Shotz, Levine, David Schiff, Jeff Bridges, Steinberg, and Jon Watts, who also directed the first two episodes. Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine wrote the teleplay and developed it for television.
The series is produced by The Littlefield Company in collaboration with 20th Television.
