Focus Features has published a trailer for Robert Eggers‘ upcoming Viking vengeance thriller The Northman, which stars Alexander Skarsgrd and features an all-star ensemble cast. On April 22, the film will be released in cinemas.
The video gives us a sneak peek at one of the film’s numerous fight sequences. It shows Skarsgrd‘s character leading his warriors into battle against the enemy’s defences. He can also be seen catching a spear and throwing it back to the enemy with ease.
The Northman is a 10th-century Icelandic “epic retribution tale” that “explores how far a Viking prince will go to pursue punishment for his killed father.”
Alexander Skarsgrd (Big Little Lies), Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Oscar nominees Ethan Hawke (The Good Lord Bird) and Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Claes Bang (The Square), and Grammy/Oscar-nominated Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk star in the film (Dancer in the Dark).
Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The Witch) is directing The Northman, which is based on a script he co-wrote with Oscar winner Sjón (Dancer in the Dark, Lamb). Producers are Lars Knudson and Mark Huffam.
