The first trailer for Disney’s live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid, featuring Halle Bailey as Ariel, has been published.

Walt Disney Studios took the stage at D23 Expo in Anaheim on Friday to promote their future slate of live-action films, which primarily comprises remakes of their animation classics. The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, is one of the most anticipated live-action remakes in the works.
During the presentation, Disney revealed the first look at the remake of The Little Mermaid, which is now available online. The teaser clip contains spectacular underwater imagery reminiscent of Aquaman, as well as our first real look at Halle Bailey as Ariel. You may view the first trailer here.
With Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as the evil sea witch Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall and features a David Magee-penne screenplay. Additional cast includes Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian the Crab, and Academy Award winner Javier Bardem as King Triton.
Along with the well-known melodies that Alan Menken wrote for the animated version of The Little Mermaid, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Menken will create brand-new music for the remake. Along with Rob Marshall, Marc Platt, and John DeLuca, Lin-Manuel Miranda will act as an executive producer in addition to his responsibilities as a lyricist.
On May 26, 2023, The Little Mermaid will be released in cinemas.
