HBO made a serious error in The Last of Us’ sixth episode.

With the release of the most recent episode of the popular HBO series, a flood of social media users revealed a critical The Last of Us on-set incident. The show’s sixth episode, “Kin,” unintentionally featured a quick shot that revealed members of the production team. Aerial footage at the beginning of the episode showed several crew personnel hovering around the boundaries of the picture. The Last of Us is a video game created by Naughty Dog and released by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is about a smuggler named Joel Miler and a 14-year-old girl named Ellie Williams, the latter of whom may hold the key to eradicating the deadly pandemic that caused the post-apocalyptic setting of the game. Joel, who was hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine area, discovers that the adolescent girl is as dependent on him as he is on her as they struggle to survive as they travel across America.
Fans of The Last of Us quickly discovered the mistake on social media. On Twitter, numerous people voiced their disbelief and indignation that such a blunder could occur in a presentation of this stature. While some viewers found the error amusing, others complained that there wasn’t enough attention to the details of the movie.
The critically praised HBO miniseries Chernobyl was created by Craig Mazin, who also worked on the The Last of Us adaptation, and the Naughty Dog game’s writer and creative director, Neil Druckmann.
