Netflix has announced the sale of something that might become a collector’s item in the future. If you want to, you can now purchase Chris Evans‘ “trash stache” from the forthcoming spy flick The Gray Man. The only question is whether the streamer will also reveal identical facial prosthetics worn by Ryan Gosling, who portrays the film’s protagonist. Maybe a wig that looks like Ana de Armas‘ in the movie?
The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney‘s novel and directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who are arguably best known for their work on The Godfather. They are also the creators of four hugely popular Marvel films: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The Gray Man has been dubbed “one of the most costly Netflix original films ever.” With a projected budget of $200 million, it’s on pace with Netflix’s other star-driven franchise starter, Red Notice, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. Red Notice already has sequels in the works, and Netflix is likely to do the same with The Gray Man as it moves away from mid-budget auteur films and reduces the quantity over quality strategy in light of recent financial losses.
The first trailer for the picture was released last month, promising a massive combat frame as well as a high-stakes, globe-trotting plot. The Gray Man also stars Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton, Eme Ikwuakor, Scott Haze, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Alfre Woodard, and Dhanush. On July 15, the film will have a limited theatrical release before premiering on Netflix on July 22.
