The English, a new limited western drama featuring Emily Blunt in her first significant written television role following cameos in Foyle’s War, Agatha Christie’s Poirot, and Gideon’s Daughter, has debuted its first official images, courtesy of Amazon Studios and BBC. The images give us our first glimpse of Blunt as an aristocratic woman as she interacts with Eli Whipp, played by Chaske Spencer, an ex-cavalry scout.
Following its UK premiere on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, all six episodes will have their global premiere in November on Prime Video in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Nordic countries.
Hugo Blick is the author, director, executive producer, and writer of The English. Along with Blunt and Spencer, the cast also includes Ciarán Hinds (The Terror), Tom Hughes (A Discovery of Witches), Valerie Pachner (A Hidden Life), Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tony Johns (Marvellous) and Stephen Rea (The Shadow Line).
Blunt and Greg Brenman are in charge of the executive production while Colin Wratten serves as a producer of The English. Wolf Gait Productions Ltd. produces the picture.
