Rintrah is a green-skinned minotaur from the extradimensional planet R’Vaal who trains as a sorcerer under Doctor Strange in Marvel’s comic continuity. During the Scarlet Witch‘s invasion of Kamar-Taj, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced Rintrah, portrayed by Adam Hugill. He was one of several sorcerers summoned to aid Wanda’s defense.
As the only sorcerer who was plainly non-human in the Kamar-Taj sequences, Rintrah was a notable contribution. However, his involvement was limited, and viewers unfamiliar with the comics may have been perplexed by the presence of a green minotaur among the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj.
A new set video from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shows the filming of a deleted sequence with Rintrah and other sorcerers. A small group of sorcerers is mounting the slopes of Mount Wundagore when they are attacked by the Scarlet Witch. Two of the sorcerers are thrown off the mountain by Wanda’s power, but one actor in a motion-capture costume, probably Rintrah, manages to hang on. Check out the video below:
Wong and Doctor Strange were the only sorcerers that traveled to Wundagore to stop Wanda in the end. Rintrah‘s presence in an earlier version of this sequence might indicate that the film intended to go more into the character’s backstory, or at the very least give him a more defined role in order to build the groundwork for the future studies of his past.
