As was predicted, comic book movies are heavily represented on this year’s Saturn Award nominations list, which was made public today. The Batman came in first place with 12 nominations, including Best Superhero Film and acting nods for Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, and Paul Dano. The Suicide Squad, another DC movie, is racing for the top honor.
Numerous MCU movies and TV shows were nominated, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Thor: Love and Thunder for Best Superhero Film, WandaVision and Loki for Best Fantasy Series, and Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Knight for Best Limited Event Series. What If received a nomination for Best Animated Series as well.
The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch are among the television programs from the Star Wars saga that received nominations. They are all vying for their respective top prizes.
The final frontier of the race, represented by Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Discovery, was acknowledged as a part of the Paramount+ Star Trek franchise.
Dune, Godzilla vs. King, Jurassic World Dominion, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Nightmare Alley are a few of the notable movies that have received multiple nominations.
The fact that these movies and TV shows are winning so many awards is exciting, and it also shows how much genre entertainment we enjoyed last year. Since there are many potential winners in each category, the race is sure to be competitive.
The 50th Saturn Awards ceremony on October 25 will announce the winners.
