The Batman continues to wow audiences, as the picture has now grossed $735.1 million worldwide. This is a good sum for the Matt Reeves picture, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s ongoing doom. Audiences are showing signs of returning to theaters, with a $6.6 million nationwide total in its sixth weekend of release proving to be a huge success for DC and Warner Bros.
To put things in perspective, Robert Pattinson‘s Caped Crusader continues to do well throughout the world, grossing $52 million in the United Kingdom, $30.1 million in Mexico, and $26.5 million in Australia. It also made $21.9 million in China, which is noteworthy given that the nation hasn’t seen a comic book film since Wonder Woman 1984 in 2020. Given that The Batman was not released in Russia owing to the disaster in Ukraine, this figure may have been significantly higher.
The Batman is easily the highest-grossing picture of 2022 thus far, with foreign feature Water Gate Bridge and Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg‘s Uncharted coming in second and third, respectively. Despite this, The Batman has a substantial lead over both of these films, earning more than $200 million in the United States compared to Uncharted. These figures are still quite encouraging, especially considering that HBO Max customers will soon be able to watch The Batman for free. The Bat and the Cat have continued to draw large crowds thanks to strong word of mouth.

The Batman is expected to keep doing well, with few films in the following weeks coming close to matching its impact. Its $6.6 million domestic total this weekend maintained it in the top five at the box office. It trailed newcomers Sonic 2 and Ambulance, but its overall score was still excellent. It’s unlikely that any of these April films will come close to matching this total, but May will undoubtedly provide some fierce competition. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Top Gun: Maverick are the most probable films to challenge The Batman, however other summer releases such as Jurassic World: Dominion and Thor: Love and Thunder will also be box office successes.
The Batman is now playing in theaters. On April 19, HBO Max subscribers will be able to see it.
