The Batman‘s box office profits plummeted by over half in its third weekend of release compared to the previous week, but it still managed to surpass the total global theatrical gross of rival DC blockbuster Justice League. The Matt Reeves-directed film outperformed expectations of the market, grossing $25.3 million to place it in second place behind Sandra Bullock’s directorial debut The Lost City, which earned $31 million and knocked The Batman off of first place for the first time since its premiere.
In all, Robert Pattinson‘s debut effort as the Caped Crusader grossed $340.9 million abroad and $331.9 million domestically ($672.8 million total). That’s only a hair more than the $657.9 million earned by 2016’s Justice League.

Nonetheless, it has a long way to go before surpassing recent pre-COVID DC releases such as Wonder Woman ($822 million), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873.6 million), The Dark Knight ($1 billion), The Joker ($1.07 billion), The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion), and Aquaman ($1.14 billion), among others. Aside from that, The Batman is comfortable atop the profits leaderboard for 2022, with Chinese blockbuster Water Gate Bridge coming on the heels of it with $626.2 million in earnings.
