The 24 categories for this year’s film awards have longlists, according to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). The names on the list were chosen during round one of voting, which involved members or juries choosing from a large pool of candidates before coming to a final decision.

In four categories of the longlists, including Supporting Actress (Angela Bassett), Costume Design, Makeup and Hair, and Special Visual Effects, the most recent MCU film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever appeared. Only the first movie was nominated for the latter award.
Since Bassett is one of the front-runners for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars, this is very great for her since it increases her buzz during awards season. If she is selected for this nomination, it will be the first BAFTA nomination of her professional career.
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, which is presently dominating the box office in theaters, fell short in a number of important categories including Best Film and Best Director. Only Production Design, Special Visual Effects, and Sound featured it. The movie was anticipated to perform exceptionally well in this location.
Six below-the-line categories, including Cinematography, Makeup and Hair, Original Score, Production Design, Special Visual Effects, and Sound, allowed The Batman to be recognized. When the Academy Awards likewise announced their shortlists for several of its categories, it had similar performances.
Some of the big tentpole movies, like Jurassic World Dominion, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, managed to make it to the Special Visual Effects category’s longlist.
These movies are one step closer to receiving a nomination, so this is very thrilling. If they make the final list, unveiled on January 19, it will be intriguing to watch.
