It appears that a Blu-ray release date for Batman has already been set.
The 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions of the imminent film, The Batman, are currently available for pre-order on Amazon India, with a release date of July 31, 2022. Warner Bros. has not officially announced a Blu-ray release date as of this writing.
While The Batman is yet to be released in theaters, early forecasts predict that the film will make around $150 million in its first weekend of release. In the weeks preceding up to The Batman’s theatrical debut, a number of trailers and clips have been published. Fans praised star Robert Pattinson’s performance as the Dark Knight in one scene, with some calling it the best live-action Batman voice ever.
Both director Matt Reeves and Pattinson have described The Batman as a neo-noir criminal thriller. The film will focus on a youthful Bruce Wayne, who is just in his second year as a vigilante, and will strongly emphasize the character’s detective skills.
“In the first meeting, [Reeves] was saying, we want to lean into the ‘world’s greatest detective aspect,’ and be a detective noir movie,” Pattinson shared in the latest interview. “And, you know, normally when directors say that, they just do like a mood board, and it’s just about the imagery. But I read the script, and it is! It’s a detective movie. It happens all the time in the graphic novels, but it’s always kind of on the backburner in the movies.”
This is aligned with Reeves’ prior comments from 2017, when he stated that the film would focus on Batman’s detective abilities. “I think there’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman, ” he added, “that is point of view driven in a very, very powerful way that is hopefully going to connect you to what’s going inside of his head, and inside of his heart.”

After major production interruptions due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which results in the release date to be set back nearly a year, Reeves announced in March 2021 that filming on The Batman had officially been underway. While The Batman may now have a Blu-ray release date, it was just discovered that the movie escaped a R classification in the United States, and is now classed PG-13 for “strong violent and disturbing violence, drug content, harsh language, and some suggestive material.”
The Batman will be released in cinemas on March 4, 2022, and will be aired on HBO Max 46 days later, on April 19, 2022.
