James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and filmmaker of The Suicide Squad, has revealed that he will be helming the upcoming film Superman: Legacy.

Gunn said on Twitter that he will now also be directing the upcoming Superman movie, even though he was originally only going to write the screenplay. He mentioned that his late father’s birthday, July 11, 2025, falls on the same day as Superman: Legacy‘s release date. He wasn’t aware of this until his brother Matt Gunn brought it up.
Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, the initial phase of the DC Universe, will include a wide range of diverse motion pictures and television programs. Among the recently revealed projects are Superman: Legacy, The Brave and the Bold, a Batman and Robin movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing feature, and other TV shows.
