A new villain has arrived in town, but that does not mean the previous one has vanished from the picture. Vecna begins threatening Hawkins in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 by selecting victims and killing each of them using some psychic skill. But how is he linked to the Mind Flayer?

When Chrissy Cunningham, their schoolmate, died a terrible death, the people are pointing their fingers at Eddie, who lives in the trailer where the corpse was found, much to the Hawkins gang’s astonishment in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1, another villain has entered the scene. They believe he is a demonic cult leader, but they had no way of knowing otherwise.
When Max, Dustin, Steve, and Robin discovered Eddie, they forced him to tell them what had transpired, and it turned out that another creature from the Upside Down had been threatening Hawkins, exactly as they had expected. They assumed it was impossible because Eleven had already shut the gate, but they discovered that the villain is not the Mind Flayer, but someone who looks like Vecna.
The Mind Flayer has been the major antagonist from the beginning, posing the greatest threat to Hawkins, resulting in the epic Battle at Starcourt, also known as the mall fire. While the Mind Flayer appeared to be beaten in Season 3, Dustin believed that Vecna is the Mind Flayer‘s five-star commander, while the Demogorgons are only foot troops.
Dustin elucidated the situation, and he may have decrypted Vecna‘s relationship with the Mind Flayer.
Because he lacks the ability to open a gate, the Mind Flayer, a strong entity from the Upside Down, has been unable to pass through Hawkins since the gates were closed. However, the Mind Flayer must be aware of the denizens of the Upside Down, which is where Vecna enters the picture.
Vecna didn’t appear in the first three seasons, which is surprising given his talents, but the solution might be linked to the great terrible Mind Flayer now that the gates have been closed. The Mind Flayer may have approached him because of his ability to open little gates throughout Hawkins so that they could pass through.
Perhaps the Mind Flayer is the same reason why when One soared straight into the Upside Down after Eleven created a portal, he was hit by lightning and transformed into the humanoid he is now.
Dustin may be correct, Vecna may be a five-star Mind Flayer general, and in every fight, the foot soldiers must come in first. In a crisis, the general steps in and finds a means to gain an edge, which is why Vecna only debuted in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1!.
