Warning! There are spoilers in this article for Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1! You should read at your own risk!

The names of Dr. Brenner‘s patients at Hawkins National Laboratory are numbers for a reason: it’s the sequence in which they arrived at the institution. However, the first child is never mentioned in the series, and it appears that the oldest child is Two. What happened to One, then? Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 reveals it.

When the youngsters line up for the show, One is never seen or heard of, Seventeen is the youngest, and Two is the oldest. Eleven is in the thick of it all. Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 ultimately reveals One, and his identity astounds everyone, especially Eleven.

One was formerly thought to be a legend among the laboratory’s patients and workers. His identity is unknown, and no one has seen him, with the exception of Dr. Brenner. One is his very first patient, which is why he has a number assigned to him.

One of the personnel in the laboratory who helps Eleven develop her skills and plan an escape was revealed to be none other than One in the Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 finale. One‘s talents were muted by a gadget implanted by Dr. Brenner, “Soteria,” as played by Jamie Campbell Bower. In exchange for his assistance to Eleven, she removed the implant from him, restoring his talents.

Eleven was taken aback when One showed himself to her and informed her how similar they are in unthinkable ways. Eleven, on the other hand, did not approve of what he did to the others. He killed everyone in the laboratory, and Eleven was convinced it was her fault the entire time.

Eleven stayed firm, and One understood he couldn’t persuade her to join his side. One disclosed that he was Victor Creel‘s son, Henry and that he did not approve of what his parents were portraying to the others: a picture-perfect family on the surface, but a difficult family on the inside. He became enamored with the Black Widows and began to learn how to manipulate objects with his thoughts.

He intended to murder them all, but as he was ready to murder his father, he ran out of energy and passed out. He was proclaimed dead, but it was later discovered that Dr. Brenner had submitted him to research that might recreate his talents, similar to the experiment on Eleven and the experiment on the others.

He tried to do to Eleven what he did to the others when she refused his ideas, but Eleven was inspired by memories of her mother and the other kids. Eleven managed to pin One to the wall and tried to imprison him, but instead, Eleven made a breach between realms, and One flew right in, was hit by lightning, and transformed into Vecna.

Netflix has released Season 4 Volume 1 of Stranger Things.  On July 1, 2022, Vol. 2 will be released.
