The first trailer for Stranger Things‘ impending two-part finale was dropped last Tuesday. Stranger Things immediately took Netflix by storm upon its release in 2016, garnering two further seasons. Stranger Things, set in the 1980s, revolves around a group of high school pals as they get enmeshed in secret government programs and otherworldly forces.
Stranger Things 4 filmmakers Ross and Matt Duffers teased the name of the new villain appearing in the final season: Vecna. While the Duffer Bros. did not give any other information on the enigmatic new antagonist, they did hint that Vecna is made using “90% real” effects.

It’s unclear how Eleven and the Hawkins crew will face off against this new foe just yet, but one thing that is abundantly clear is that the monster is really horrifying. There are still mysteries surrounding the villain’s connection to the Hawkins crew, but as seen in the previous teaser, Vecna said, “your suffering is almost at an end,” hinting at the villain’s reason.
In the Stranger Things finale, we might anticipate a terrifying adversary to emerge from Vecna‘s shadow. It can be said that Demagorgan and the Mind Flyer set a pretty high bar for Vecna. While the Stranger Things Season 4 teaser hinted at some fierce battles with the upside-down, nothing more is known about Vecna other than the fact that she will be the last and most significant opponent for the Hawkins crew.
When Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1, which is set to come out on Netflix on May 27, will give us more glimpses of Vecna.
