‘Stranger Things 4’: First Reactions To Season Premiere Called It The Darkest And Scariest Ever

The return of Stranger Things is just on the horizon, with the first half of the fourth season premiering on Netflix on May 27. On Saturday, media members attended the global premiere of the first episode of the impending season, which took place just before its release on the streaming site. While the reviews aren’t scheduled to be released until May 23, those who attended the event are permitted to share their initial reactions to the episode on social media, with the majority of reactions showering praise upon the episodes and setting the stage for what could be the best season of the series to date.

The highly-anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things is almost all set to debut on Netflix after a hiatus of three years. The impending season, which is slated to make its debut in two parts, seems to be building up with more horror aspects than ever before, as the beloved characters come up against probably some of the most menacing terrors they have encountered up to this point.

Stranger Things 4‘s first episode was previewed to the press ahead of time, and early responses have surfaced online. You may read many of them below:

Forgot to mention last night but the first episode of #StrangerThings4 was definitely worth the wait. Very dark with some great jump scares, excellent sound design & a more mature, relatable storyline for these characters we’ve grown to love. Bigger in scope & highly cinematic. pic.twitter.com/tbUoADsciE

Just finished the first episode of #StrangerThings4 and Wow. The entire thing feels bigger and more cinematic. The bulk of the episode is spent on reuniting audiences with characters, but when it hits the horror notes, it hits HARD and foreshadows the terror to come. @netflix pic.twitter.com/FYYvAUj5Il

The first episode of #StrangerThings4 is 👍. It’s almost an hour and 15 minutes of set up and I loved it. Instead of rushing into the season the Duffer brothers take their time and do a lot of character building. Not what I expected and love when that happens. #StrangerThings pic.twitter.com/Ubj6XMCcKJ

The first episode of #StrangerThings4 immediately goes darker than we’ve seen before and I actually loved it. The show feels more mature, reflecting how these characters and the audience have grown while also keeping the same elements that make it #StrangerThings. pic.twitter.com/DAs2Bf2X6r

It’s hard to imagine that Netflix’s hit series debuted six years ago, even though we’re just on the fourth season. Throughout this period, we have seen the children develop before our eyes, thus it is only natural that the series will also mature. The days of youngsters riding their bikes about the town without a worry in the world are long gone. After battling Demogorgons and coming into close touch with other horrifying monsters, it is difficult not to mature more quickly.

It seems as if the imminent season will have possibly the most in-depth exploration of the horror. This is likely due to the fact that a significant portion of the younger cast has reached the age of young adulthood. Now, the imminence of the life-threatening peril will seem more intense than before, in part because of bonds that have already been created between the characters, as well as how the Netflix series’ production value has soared.

Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1 is slated to premiere on Netflix on May 27, followed by Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 on July 1.
