Steph Curry, an NBA all-star, recently participated in a television commercial for Jordan Peele’s Nope.
Curry steps onto a basketball court inside a horse stable in the 30-second footage. Things start to go wrong as the lights inside the facility starts to flicker and tremble, prompting the basketball hero to miss a basket. Curry throws his hood up and walks away with a single word: “Nope” as he glances outside and sees the scary, invisible menace. The commercial will appear on ESPN and ABC on April 16 during the NBA playoff games, which begin with the Golden State Warriors taking on the Denver Nuggets.
The first trailer for Nope was released on February 13th, just in time for Super Bowl LVI. Nope’s first teaser, which includes a quick first-look video of Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yuen, among the film’s main characters, was previously announced by Universal Pictures. In addition to Michael Wincott, Barbie Ferreira, the film will include Brandon Perea. Nope is Peele’s third horror film, after the highly successful psychological horror films Get Out (also starring Kaluuya) and Us (also starring Kaluuya) in 2017 and Us (again starring Kaluuya) in 2019.
