The famous cartoon Spider-Man meme, which showed up on social media Wednesday for the digital and 4K release date announcement of No Way Home, was recreated by Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield.
The official Spider-Man film account tweeted, “Of course, we got THE meme,” along with the home video release dates.
Two Spider-Men looking at each other in a 1960s cartoon episode where a villain impersonates Spider-Man is the source of the meme. The meme has been utilized for a variety of purposes throughout the years, with one of the most prominent beings to point out hypocrisy. Three Spider-Men appear on occasion in the meme. The three Spider-Man figures gesture at each other in homage to the meme in No Way Home, but it’s not an exact reproduction like the one released Wednesday for the home release.
The meme was an instant smash, with more than 10,000 retweets within minutes of its release.
The blockbuster Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on digital March 22 and on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 12.
With $1.77 billion in the global box office, the Sony-Marvel blockbuster became the highest-grossing film of the pandemic age. It was Spider-highest-grossing Man’s picture to date. It’s also the sixth-highest-grossing movie of all time.
No Way Home has received several honors and has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
