Crossing universes is Karan Soni. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the actor, who is most known for his work in the Deadpool films, is joining Marvel’s animated division with a voice role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Soni will perform the role of Spider-Man India, Pavitr Prabhakar in the parallel universe. His casting was initially mentioned on One Take News.
The follow-up to 2018’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is titled Across the Spider-Verse. The original film won praise for its unique animation design and for examining the multiverse years before it became a mainstay of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC’s The Flash movie.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers are the movie’s directors. The script was written by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Dave Callaham. Soni joins the voice cast of the animated series with Jake Johnson, Luna Lauren Velez, Brian Tyree Henry, Jorma Taccone, Issa Rae, Oscar Isaac, Rachel Dratch, Shea Whigham, Jason Schwartzman, and Daniel Kaluuya.
Last week, it unveiled a look at Funko Pop figures, including Spider-Man India, that were inspired by Across the Spider-Verse.
Soni played Dopinder, a cab driver and Deadpool friend, in the films Deadpool and Deadpool 2. His voice acting credits include Odd World and Trolls World Tour. CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment are the actor’s representatives.
