Sony followed its reveal in September’s PlayStation Showcase by announcing the release of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PlayStation 5 at the beginning of 2022, which is an upgraded bundle of the previous PlayStation 4 Uncharted games.
Three months later, gamers finally got to know the details. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection PS5 will be released on January 28, 2022 and cost $49.99 (upgrades are available for those already owning the PS4 versions, though).
The PC port is coming later, but the exact date remains unknown. Players can find more information about this bundle on the PlayStation Blog. With the upcoming game, gamers can enjoy three distinct modes: Fidelity, Performance and Performance+. For the Fidelity mode, the game is at a native 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. The Performance mode aims at 60 frames per second and its resolution is unknown. The last mode runs at 120 frames per second with a resolution of 1080p, ensuring that users have a compatible display for such a high frame rate.
The game titles will leverage the hardware in various ways. Haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers are supported in both games. A prime example for how the DualSense features are applied can be seen in melee combat and traveling in the jeep. Besides, the game’s load times are tremendously quicker due to booting and skipping cutscenes (these are the only visual load screens in the games). 3D audio is also equipped to support the players with the positions of the shots.
For those that have already had the PS4 ports of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, there will be an upgrade available on the PlayStation Store at the price of $10. Sony hinted that users with only one of the game titles on PS4 can also purchase the whole bundle on PS5 for only $10. Furthermore, the individual PS4 versions of the games on the PlayStation Store have all been taken down, preventing sly players from making use of this two-for-one upgrade opportunity and only purchase one of the PS4 versions (it is only for the digital platforms, though, as users can still get the physical copies of the deal).
There are exceptions, though. The $10-upgrade deal is not available for those who bought Uncharted 4 during the April 2020’s PlayStation Plus lineup. Moreover, users using the physical copies of the PS4 versions need to put the PS4 disc in the PS5 console (in the case that they do not own the digital-only PS5) to be able to enjoy the PS5 versions. This is what is happening for premium PS5 upgrades.
Notably, users purchasing or upgrading the game before February 3, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. PT are rewarded with a voucher code for one ticket to the upcoming Uncharted film with the appearance of Tom Holland. This code is available for players in New Zealand, the U.K., and U.S. by February 9, just over a week from the movie’s release date, February 18. The voucher can only be redeemed at some certain Regal theaters.
It has been confirmed that the new Uncharted bundle will not allow multiplayer mode, which was understandable since it was also the case for the Nathan Drake Collection.
