The studio is gearing up for a Christmas bonanza.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in theaters on December 20, 2024, according to the company.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 debuted earlier this year to a massive $72.1 million, providing a significant boost to the domestic box office rebound, particularly for family pictures. The film went on to collect more than $401 million at the global box office, a respectable number considering the recovery was only getting off.
Sonic 2 was one of the rare COVID-19 films to open ahead of its predecessor. Other accolades include the greatest launch ever for a video game adaptation, surpassing the first Sonic, as well as Paramount’s best three-day opening since 2014.
Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz star in the film franchise.
Sonic 3 will compete with James Cameron’s Avatar 3, which is currently scheduled to launch around the year-end holidays in 2024 (The Avatar sequels have changed locations several times).
In a related announcement, Paramount has pushed back the release date of their untitled Smurfs animated musical from December 20, 2024, to February 14, 2025.
