Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has surpassed the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office, including $190,6 million domestically and $209.5 million overseas as of Tuesday. It now stands at the eighth spot among the highest-grossing pictures globally in 2022 and is sure to climb more ranks since Japan and Hong Kong have yet to show it. A third installment was billed at today’s Paramount CineEurope presentation.

The little blue critter’s sequel had a record-breaking early start worldwide in late March and quickly expanded markets over the course of many months.
The United Kingdom ($34.3M), Mexico ($22.1M), France ($17.3M), Australia ($16.6M), and Brazil ($12M) are its top five most lucrative overseas markets.
Domestically, Sonic 2 was released in April with $71 million, surpassing the three-day opening numbers of the original film in 2020, which had debuted on a holiday weekend, by $1 million.
The first movie ended up grossing $171 million abroad and approximately $320 million worldwide, although it had its run cut short because of the Coronavirus outbreak. In the end, it was the sixth most successful film in the world, and third among Hollywood studios in 2020.
