In the debut teaser for espionage series “Slow Horses,” published on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, Gary Oldman plays a grumpy MI5 agent who is surrounded by “total losers.”
The six-part series is based on Mick Herron’s first novel in the “Slow Horses” series, with the first two episodes launching on April 1 in the United Kingdom and one episode broadcast every Friday thereafter.
Jackson Lamb is played by Gary Oldman, a smart but disgruntled veteran spy who ends up at MI5’s “Slough House,” a detention center for spies who have committed career-ending blunders. It’s a dead-end with no fascinating cases until Jack Lowden’s still ambitious agent sees an opening to get back into the game.
Olivia Cooke, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Paul Higgins, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Steve Waddington, Paul Hilton, Antonio Aakeel, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns, and Peter Judd are among the ensemble cast, with Jonathan Pryce making a special guest appearance.
See-Saw Films is producing the series for Apple TV+, and Will Smith, the creator of “Veep” and “Paddington 2,” executive produces alongside Graham Yost. Jamie Laurenson, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux, Hakan Kousetta, and Douglas Urbanski are among the show’s executive producers. James Hawes is the executive producer and director of all six episodes.
