Shazam! Fury Of The Gods‘ box office performance was hardly magical. The 2019 DC Comics sequel Shazam! is now the lowest-grossing film in the DC Extended Universe following a mediocre performance in theaters throughout the globe.

After the first Shazam! movie made $363 million worldwide on a $90 million budget, Warner Bros. approved the sequel. Warner Bros. chose to invest in a sequel even though the first film only had a small level of success because they recognized the potential in the franchise.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, on the other hand, fared much worse than anticipated, earning just $133.4 million globally throughout its theatrical run. It’s important to note that the sequel performed worse than other DCEU films that were also released during the pandemic and had simultaneous HBO Max premieres. Despite difficulties brought on by the pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad managed to earn $169.6 million and $168.7 million, respectively.
