Despite favorable initial reviews, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is expected to underperform during its opening weekend. Yet according to a recent article, it also doesn’t have a sizable budget to make up.

Both critics and fans praised the first Shazam! movie as one of the best DC Universe movies to have been released at the time. Most people would believe a success like that would demand a greater budget for the sequel. Nevertheless, according to a recent report, the film’s budget is the same $100 million as that of its predecessor.
While $100 million is a big sum for most movies, it is significantly less than the budgets of many other superhero movies. Due to the characters’ similar backgrounds, Black Adam and Shazam! are practically sibling movies. According to reports, Black Adam‘s budget was almost double that of Shazam! even though it opened to just $14 million higher than the first movie. Despite a weaker-than-anticipated opening weekend, it’s uncertain whether this lesser budget will translate into box office success.
David F. Sandberg directed Shazam! Fury of the Gods was based on a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. Together with Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, and Faithe Herman, the film also stars Ian Chen, Marta Millans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren. David F. Sandberg recently claimed that Shazam! Fury of the Gods had already been finished before its March release.
