Director David F. Sandberg has also addressed the fans on Twitter regarding the delay of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
The release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods fell at many hurdles. The film was originally slated to be released after The Flash, but its release date was moved ahead to December 2022 due to the delays of The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Unfortunately, the picture was again shelved, reportedly because Warner Bros. Discovery was unable to market the film this year. In spite of that, Director David F. Sandberg is still quite optimistic.
The initial release date for Shazam! Fury of the Gods pitted the film against Avatar: The Way of Water. The filmmaker thinks it’s better to delay as the picture won’t be able to compete with the blockbuster. This will enable the Shazam sequel to reach its full potential, despite the film being finished in a matter of weeks. In addition, he commented that it was still three months before its original release date.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to release on March 17, 2023.
