Even optimistic predictions indicated that Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ opening weekend box office would be below average. Although the sequel’s first reviews were largely good, things rapidly went south, earning it a 52% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. The actress who plays Anthea in the movie, Zegler, tried to defend the movie on Twitter by arguing that it deserved some support. You may view her Twitter thread below:
When she first tweeted about the audience score, Rachel Zegler‘s observations have only been confirmed to be more accurate; the current value is 88%. This is the exact audience rating of Black Adam, its sibling movie, which has an even lower 39%. It’s uncertain if Shazam will be able to survive despite the audience’s enthusiastic response. Fury of the Gods supporters can only hope that viewers will reconsider the movie given its current box office performance.
