Netflix is getting set to launch a new slate of programming in April, and there’s a lot to look forward to. This month, the service has a lot on its plate, from original programs to top-tier licensing. And, due to a new teaser, fans can get a glimpse of how Usagi Yojimbo will seem on television when the comic is adapted.
After all, the next animated adaptation recently got a full teaser from Netflix. The trailer for Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles is below.
As you can see, Usagi and a handful of his buddies are brought to life in this 3D animated series. The trailer introduces viewers to the titular hero of the program, who takes the appearance of a samurai rabbit. The youngster is preparing to become a worthy ninja, but his life is turned upside down when a powerful Yokai appears in the world. As more of these monsters appear, it’s up to Usagi and his friends to combat the Yokai while also figuring out how to keep the pests out for good.

On April 28th, Netflix will release Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. Usagi is played by Darren Barnet, Kitsune is played by Shelby Rabara, Gen is played by Aleks Le, Chizu is played by Mallory Low, and so on. Netflix has partnered with 88 Pictures to distribute its animation, while series creator Stan Sakai acts as an executive producer on the Netflix original.
It’s worth noting that the series began in 1984, quite a long time ago so it’s not surprising if you’re unfamiliar with Usagi Yojimbo. Usagi takes on a variety of missions in this long-running series, which is mostly episodic. After all, the anthropomorphic rabbit aspires to be like the legendary ronin Miyamoto Musashi, and his fast-paced exploits are constantly punctuated by calm introspection.
